Driving a car on the roads of Cres.... teaches you alot...

Those walls made of stones are to keep the wild running sheep in the areas of their owner's land. Often they have tied-together legs so they can't climb the walls.
It's forbidden to damage the walls (e.g. by climbing) or to take away stones. It's a part of the local's culture and they still characterize the landscape of the island.
